At Redolent Floral, we believe beauty and sustainability go hand in hand. Our commitment to these eco-friendly practices ensures that every bouquet we create is not only stunning but also kind to the planet. Here’s how we make sustainable floral design a priority when delivering flowers across Pittsburgh and Bethel Park:
Locally & Seasonally Sourced Sustainable Flowers in Pittsburgh🌿
We prioritize working with local flower farms in Pennsylvania and throughout Pittsburgh. We also grow many of our flowers when the season allows! By choosing in-season blooms, we reduce carbon emissions from long-haul transportation and support local growers who use eco-conscious farming methods.
For more information, check out our blog article on the importance of local sourcing florists. We also have more information about where we source on our Pittsburgh flower sourcing page.
Organic & Pesticide-Free Blooms 🌸
Whenever possible, we source flowers grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. This protects pollinators, preserves soil health, and ensures that our arrangements are safe for people and the environment. All of the flowers we grow at our Bethel Park studio are grown organically, with organic compost, pesticide-free soils, and natural fertilizers.
Eco-Friendly Packaging 🎁
Sustainability doesn’t stop at the flowers—we also use recyclable and biodegradable packaging. Our bouquets are wrapped in compostable paper and tied with a reusable cloth ribbon. We avoid single-use plastics and floral foam, which are harmful to the environment.
Waste Reduction & Composting 🌎
Some floral waste is inevitable, but we take steps to minimize it. We are very strict with ordering and work to only bring in as many flowers from farms as we plan to sell in a week. During the growing season, many flowers we use were picked right from the ground that same morning!
We compost organic scraps, repurpose leftover flowers into dried arrangements, and donate unsold blooms to local nursing homes and community centers. This is to ensure that they are enjoyed by as many people as possible. We also educate our audience on how to make cut flowers last longer, so they can get their money’s worth from our arrangements.
Sustainable Delivery Methods 🚗
We hand-deliver our floral arrangements with efficiency in mind, optimizing routes to reduce fuel consumption. We prioritize route scheduling that limits unnecessary detours, with a plan in place for minimal mileage and carbon emissions. As we grow, we plan to explore electric vehicle and bicycle delivery options to further minimize our ecological footprint.
Ongoing Education Initiatives 📢
We believe in sharing knowledge and inspiring others to embrace sustainable practices. Through our content and social media, we educate our customers on eco-friendly floral care and the importance of supporting local flower farms. We believe the floral industry is ready for a change, and that sustainable floristry should be a new standard.
By choosing Redolent Floral, you’re not just sending flowers— you’re supporting a greener, more sustainable future. Thank you for joining us on this journey toward a more environmentally friendly and beautiful world! 💚
